Twigs Trail of Dirty Tricks – By The Numbers
1 & 2 – Hijacking my Pen Name Twice While Sending Out the Last Two Emails on Renewing Chautauqua’s Leadership and Suggesting a Taxing Alternative to Fund the New Amp.
3 – Posting Dozens of Negative Comments On My Site Impersonating Many Chautauquans and Threatening Others. Some of the comments were actual emails sent by people who thought they were replying directly to me. Twig received them and used them to post on my site and added/changed the content to suit his purposes. I have confirmed that with a few people impersonated.
What follows are the vast majority (35) of the comments that were posted to my Drift of the Day site between Monday 11/23 – Thursday 12/3 in response to me disclaiming the emails sent out by Twig using my pen name. None of my other posts have received more than a dozen comments. So when the comments started rolling in fast and furious on Black Friday I was more than a little concerned as some of them were mean spirited attacks on me in general and more specifically on my use of a pen name. But as the carpet bombing continued they started calling out, and threatening other Chautauquans to try to smoke me out. I dug a little deeper and found out that ONE IP (Internet Protocol) address was responsible for 30 of the negative comments, as Twig was impersonating a whole bunch of Chautauquans to post on my site. I approved many of these despite an overall feeling of dread and helplessness as I didn’t want to be accused of censoring anyone. Once I realized what was going on I pulled all of them, and my defending replies, from my site. A little internet sleuthing later, and with a little help from some friends, I had figured out that Twig was responsible for the fake George emails, and all but two of the negative comments. Below are the results from the IP search.

It’s been around for a while and lots of people have found out the hard way, that it does not provide a very strong veil of anonymity. That aside, your musings are not very Chautauqua-like, and in fact, attempt to stunt informed dialogue among folks with differing views. If you had any courage, and anything really meaningful or productive to contribute, you would do it yourself, and not under an alias. The image above (L) I have refereed to as Creepy Girl which was the first one he used when he set up a fake George Seaver Facebook page. I saw the page and just laughed at it until he started friend requesting people. Just for the record I had to set up my George Seaver pen name page so I could post my Amp Redux v. 3.0 page. I never thought about friend requesting anyone as pen names shouldn’t be doing things like that. Yet Twig is still actively friend requesting as Fake George and Leftcadio Hern – Rogue Writer The Chautauqua News. He friend requested my George as both of them.

Twig sent an email using my mail chimp email (that he set up for me, and controls) to a Chautauqua Institution Board member, posing as me, asking about the Amp Renewal project. I complained with the following email:

Nope, we really do not care if the amphitheater stands or falls. However, We do like juicing the controversial aspect of the Amp for the same reason any newspaper writes a salacious headline … Readers love them. If you keep writing we will keep publishing

When I posted The Chautauqua of the Future re: the 1979 Season debate on the CSO, he titled it Big Symphony Changes.
8 – The rest of his dirty tricks are less damaging but worth noting.
- I had asked him early on to provide a link to my Drift of the Day site so people could read the other pages/posts at their convenience. He replied that people only want to read the emails.
- When he finally put a link in he put it right next to a waving Waldo asking people to tap to sign up for the blog. I wanted it to say “to read this post directly in a separate browser tap here to go to my Drift of the Day home page to read this post and other pages.

- When the conspiracy theorists thought I worked for Chautauqua and I posted my About George page he added a dozen Waldo’s in the right hand margin.
- He managed the emails I was supposed to receive via mail chimp as he had first look at them and only sent me the ones he wanted me to see.
